Basant is one of the ragas of Basant ritu/spring season, which can be presented at any time during the spring season and at late night in other seasons. It is an raga and the higher is used most often. In is mostly omitted; however, it may be used in form. Though it uses both forms of , is used most of the time and is used only to show the Lalit . Usually in aroh is omitted in middle octave, but utilized in higher octave. Paraj raga is very close to this raga, having the same notes, but gets differentiated by more prominence of and the style of shuddha usage.
