Kafi is the representative raag of the Kafi thaat. It has all the seven notes both in and . and are and the remaining notes are shudh. Mostly this raga is used for semi-classical presentations like Thumri, Tappa, Hori etc. A majority of the compositions will have descriptions of Holi festival and its celebrations. Sometimes to add more emotions and are also used, in which case it is called Mishra Kafi.
